Ben Reed grew up in South Hadley, playing trumpet and basketball, as well as dancing. Ben graduated with a degree in mathematics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he also developed a love of chess. While in school, Ben worked in the residence halls supervising students, staff, and operations. Upon graduation, Ben was excited to join the staff at Gerry’s Music!
At Gerry’s, Ben manages the inventory system – including product purchasing and receiving – but his favorite part about working at Gerry’s is helping people explore their love of music. “I love seeing the passion in people and the joy they create through music”. For Ben, being able to teach kids a little bit about music and ignite their passion is particularly rewarding. “Every instrument has the potential to be a kid’s lifelong joy and coping mechanism – that’s pretty cool”.
