Erin Provost

Erin Provost is a South Hadley native whose love for music was instilled from a very young age. Erin began taking piano lessons at 5 years old, with Barbara Yates, a legacy at Gerry’s Music Shop! Erin was engaged in music throughout her schooling, playing trumpet in middle school, and singing in school and church choirs through high school. In 2012 Erin moved to Ithaca, NY, where she studied Politics, French, and Women’s and Gender Studies at Ithaca College. There, she participated in the Campus Choral Ensemble, and explored performance opportunities with friends and colleagues. She would continue her education to receive a B.A. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While living in Ithaca, Erin worked for 4 years in the Ithaca City School District as a Special Education Teacher, and through various roles supporting youth and adults with developmental disabilities. Erin is proud to meld her knowledge of childhood development and her love of music through her role now at Gerry’s Music Shop.

Erin appreciates the opportunity to work with her family, and strives to support others in finding their love and joy through music. Erin loves welcoming children into the Store, connecting with customers, and finding creative ways to make music more accessible. Our private lesson program is a great source of joy for Erin – “I love seeing our lesson students arrive with excitement and leave with pride in their growth and learning, it is an honor to witness the impact of music across generations”.

Despite the occasional chaos, Erin’s favorite area of the store is our warehouse! Erin finds joy and satisfaction in cleaning and organizing our rental instruments and supplies, making sure each instrument is ready to be rented to a new musician. Erin’s favorite musical moments are anytime she gets to perform with her mom and sister, soloing The Impossible Dream in middle school, and performing with the SHHS a cappella group Vocal Roar.
