Faith Thompson
Piano
Faith studied music education, piano performance and theory in college, and received her BA from the University of Connecticut in economics and anthropology. She completed the studies required for a Juris Doctorate degree at Western New England College in Springfield. She has completed her classwork for a Master’s in Education from Westfield State University. Her musical influences are far reaching, and include Bach, Tchaikovsky, Clementi, Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk, Albert Ammons, Peter Johnson, Fats Waller, and Meade Lux Lewis.
Her teaching philosophy focuses on the individual. Each student she takes on receives a tailored, multifaceted curriculum that involves classical and modern studies, with elements that stress reading music and improvisation.
Faith is the Organist and Music Director for the South Hadley Falls Congregational Church, and for the Christ Community Church in Chicopee. She also plays piano in a local jazz group, Tea Leaves.
Faith loves teaching at Gerry’s Music because she can manage her own, flexible schedule. She enjoys working with a great group of students, and the easy-going atmosphere at the store. She lives in the Forest Park area of Springfield with her husband and their dog. She has three grandchildren, one living in Chicago, and two living in Raleigh, North Carolina.
