Helkin Felipe Sosa is a Massachusetts-based teacher, composer, producer, and performer who incorporates many different musical styles in his works including Latin, classical, and jazz. Helkin has received classical training in trumpet and piano since fourth grade. He is currently a student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he studies trumpet performance and technique with Eric Berlin and jazz with Jeffery Holmes. Helkin is a member of the Jazz’d in Time Collective, a group of Latin and blues musicians who perform throughout Western Massachusetts.
Helkin strives to create music that tells a story and communicates meaningful emotion, as he believes that art is best when it makes us think and feel. His students can expect a young, passionate teacher who inspires expression through music, which is never limited to any one style or genre.
