Educational Service Representative

James Provost grew up in South Hadley, graduating from South Hadley High School in 2015. As an elementary student, James played low brass instruments. As he got older, his interests shifted from band to athletics, playing varsity football and competing on the track and field teams through his senior year. Upon graduation, James pursued his interest in mechanics at MassBay Community College where he completed an Associates Degree of Science in Automotive Technology. This led James to a successful 7-year career at Herb Chambers working as an Automotive Service Technician.

Looking to make a change, James joined the staff at Gerry’s Music Shop in 2022, bringing invaluable skills for supporting our repair shop, and working dedicatedly to perfecting our inventory systems and processes. Additionally, James visits schools weekly as an Educational Representative, supporting the growth and success of music teachers and music programming throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. James’ favorite part about working at Gerry’s is the opportunity to work with his family and to continue the family legacy! His favorite area of the store is the Wind Room.

As an adult, James is proud to have returned to his musical roots by learning to play alto saxophone. His favorite musical moment was playing a “pretty cool” arrangement of Mambo No. 5 in 8th grade band.
