Scott Sibley

Scott Sibley is a talented sales staff member and guitar teacher at Gerry’s Music Shop. He began playing clarinet in 4th grade band, taking lessons and learning to read music through 6th grade. Scott began playing guitar when he was 15, taking private lessons with Michael Nix from 1989 to 1992 before attending the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California from 1993-94. Scott’s earliest musical influence is his mother who constantly had the radio on which encouraged his love for music. Other influences include classic rock guitarists Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, and David Gilmour, blues players Stevie Ray Vaughan, BB King, and Buddy Guy, and folk musicians Jim Croce, James Taylor, and Simon & Garfunkel.

When it comes to teaching, Scott’s philosophy is to have fun! He encourages students to “get music off the page and out of the instrument as fast as possible”, while also highlighting the importance of making music that brings them joy. Scott enjoys passing his knowledge and love of music on to his students. As a staff member, Scott is a premiere guitar repair technician who also specializes in professional audio and PA equipment. He most enjoys working with the amazing musicians who come into our store every day.

In addition to his roles here at Gerry’s, Scott is the owner and producer of a local recording studio since 1999. He is proud to have recorded dozens of albums with local Western Massachusetts artists including Seth Glier, John Wayno (of Barefoot Truth), and the horn section of Brass Attack. Scott currently lives in Greenfield, MA with his wife and two dogs, Koko and Bella.
