A SYMPHONY OF SAINTS – Ensuring that All Musicians are Given a Chance
Gerry’s Music is proud to announce a new partnership with 22 News in the creation of “A Symphony of Saints,” (ASOS) the region’s first nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of music education. The organization’s main goal: to ensure that quality, working musical instruments and professional instruction are available to all regardless of economic status.
The following individuals have graciously agreed to donate their time and talents as board members for this new organization: Carol Bobbin (PeoplesBank), Ira Brezinsky (area Business Leader), Jeff Guiel (Attorney at Law, and ASOS Vice President), Sam Karlin (Principal, Chicopee Public Schools and ASOS Secretary), Lynn Klock (Professor Emeritus, UMass Department of Music), Brian Lapis (22 News), Charles Neville (The Neville Brothers et al.), Morgan Provost (MBA Candidate, Isenberg School of Business, and ASOS President), Kellie Reed (PeoplesBank, and ASOS Treasurer), Tom Terry (Accountant, Whittlesley and Hadley, P.C.) and Greg Williams (Educator, Granby Public Schools.)
This past Monday, January 11th, Gerry’s played host to the first official Board of Directors meeting for this up-and-coming charitable organization. At this meeting, the board members ratified their bylaws and conflict of interest policy, voted officers into their respective positions, established their financial structure, and began planning for their first major fundraiser, a golf tournament. Stay tuned!
Gerry’s Music Shop has agreed to help “A Symphony of Saints” by repairing all donated instruments and making sure that they are clean and in proper playing condition completely free of charge. On that note, if you, or someone you know, has an instrument that you are no longer using, please consider donating it to this newly formed organization. Donations of instruments, or monetary donations, can be made by bringing it directly into Gerry’s Music Shop, or by emailing Morgan Provost at asymphonyofsaints@gmail.com for alternate arrangements.
